The big ideas in Fourth Grade Social Studies include the story of the United States in terms of its vast and varied geography, its many waves of immigration beginning with pre-Columbian societies, its continuous diversity, economic energy, and rapid growth. Fourth Grade History Strands emphasize the history of Arizona and the Southwest from its earliest civilizations to modern times. There are five main strands we will be exploring in 4th grade Social Studies. These are, American History, World History, Civics/Government, Geography, and Economics.
